Twice the venturis for twice the carburation!

Kinja'd!!!

What was supposed to be a weekend project (last weekend) wrapped up today with the last odds and ends addressed. Went for a short drive as the sun was setting - even without adjusting anything on the carb (other than the idle speed) it’s a huge improvement. Need a good cold start or two to finalize the choke adjustment.

be sure to run some decent fuel filters.......... holleys are a bit temperamental when it comes to rust and grit in the fuel. once you get grit in the passages it can be a PAIN to get them clear again..........

I’ve got a Wix filter in line right before the pump; the tank is only a couple years old and I blew out the lines with compressed air when I did the tank, so overall it should be a pretty clean system. The stock carb has the filter in the fuel inlet and it was still pretty much clean as new after a couple thousand miles (I changed it shortly before replacing the tank, which was due to a leak).

Thanks for the input, though!

I need to get a muscle car. Look at that engine bay, so much room for activities!

There is a lot of space! A lot of it will be taken up when I get around to putting the A/C back in, but it’s still very roomy.

The downside of that though is it’s a pain to get to the middle of it - I have to very much lay over the fenders to reach the distributor/coil, etc.

That looks familiar! Though your engine bay has a bit more space than a Camaro’s. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one with plain old painted valve covers.

Don’t even need a muscle car, lots of cars back then had wide open engine bays. If you ever worked on a car with a straight 6 from back then it’s far more ridiculous.

I like the factory orange stamped covers, these ones even sort of still seal! The factory 2bbl intake I took off is still in original orange paint as well (I re-did the valve covers a few years ago, but not very well prepped as can be seen above).

A friend of mine keeps saying “You need finned M/T valve covers!!” which I agree look nice, but as I’ve told him, that’s a decent amount of money for exactly zero performance. I’d gladly accept a set as a gift, though he’s not too keen on that.

I fully agree. If I installed full roller rockers that needed taller valve covers then I could see spending the money, but until then that’s not where I choose to spend my money.
